Wu Wanmin, the Dean of the Guangzhou Civil Aviation College said, “The UTC’s UAV training project meets the school’s goal of cultivating high-end talent. The school will increase resource inputs such as indoor and outdoor training areas, manpower, budget, and more to this project, and take this as an opportunity to explore more cooperation possibilities in drone projects and facilitate the development of drone industry. “
According to Xu Huabin, vice president of DJI, the total number of flights of DJI drones has increased dramatically between 2016 and 2017 due to the surge of industrial applications of drones. When flying drones for this purpose, pilots are required to focus more on the actual characteristics of the industry instead of drone operations. Mastering a professional understanding for industries such as power, agriculture, energy, filmmaking, telecommunication, and mapping, will help to unleash the potential of drones in these areas.

As one of the earliest colleges that offered higher vocational education in the civil aviation industry, the Guangzhou Civil Aviation College took the lead to put forward and implement the training of skilled talents based on civil aviation industry standards, forming characteristics of schooling of relying on industrial and school-industry cooperation.
As of today, the UTC has trained over 10,000 professional pilots for different industries. After the State Grid Corporation of China & UTC Training and Testing Center was established, the Guangzhou Civil Aviation College & UTC Training Center is the 76th UAV training center opened by the UTC in China.
The establishment of the Guangzhou Civil Aviation College & UTC Training Center will further facilitate the development of UAV talent cultivation in higher vocational education, as well as provide companies and colleagues with comprehensive UAV teaching plans and testing standards. It is also stands as an example of the "Production, learning, and research" model in the field of UAVs.
Courses opened by the UTC include UAS inspection, aerial photography, plant protection, powerline inspection, and customized training. The UTC will continue to open more courses in fields including energy, search and rescu, industrial engineering, and more
